“Here There Be Demons” is the latest adventure for V&V from Joe Liotta. Whenever we accept an adventure (or villains compendium) for V&V we alway advise the author that he or she does not really know what the characters look like beyond any general description provided in the test. The author will only “know” the characters’ appearances when the assigned artist has completed the cover, illustrations and counters for the project. But, in this case (as in others written by Joe Liotta), the author and artist are the same person – which leads to a more fully realized image of each character and more accurate maps of the locales within the adventure book. For this reason I must admit that I am always extremely happy when the author of a book is also an artist who can be assigned the job of illustrating that book. It is especially satisfying when that author is also fully able to draw detailed maps, which not all artists are willing or able to do, and when that artist is the one who originally visualized those locations for the adventure.
